“Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally, in the service of self-understanding and wisdom.” says  Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Mindfulness is a meditation practice developed based on Zen Buddhism and trains one to be aware of oneself. This usually is done by being aware of one’s breath. The awareness also makes us realize the oneness within ourselves and outside ourselves and we experience liberation from anxiety, fear and eventually one develops a ‘non discriminatory mind’.

According to Thích Nhất Hạnh, Vietnamese Buddhist Monk ‘ Meditation should not be an escape from reality. On the contrary, it should lead to an increased awareness of reality.’

Scientific research has shown that Mindfulness based Therapies improve psychological well being there by enhancing the functions of the body, reducing stress, anxiety, fear, fatigue, depression etc and improve overall well being.
